I bought this driver at the end of August ’11. I have been playing the 09' Burner which is a great stick as well but with the TaylorMade R11 Driver it seems easier to dial in. This is what I was looking for. I love the great adjustable face. You can change the loft with it. I like the flight of a 9.5 ..probably picked up 15..to 20 yards.
I like to see the ball fly so i would suggest getting to the range and see it for yourself I did play with my settings a little..do some research on the adjustments u are making..it made it more fun that i was able to change different things and try different set ups..With my Burner I was a typical Slicer from time to time...seems like with a closed face on the R-11 my drives typically now have a nice little fade..I do get the occasional slice but it seems far n fewer between drives..i'm finally confident swinging at 90% on the T Box..it's a great get.
This R11 Driver offers a lot of features that are not seen before. It is inbuilt with the Flight-Control-Technology that provides you the ability to control the degree of loft. You can adjust the degree of loft by shifting to one of the 8 settings provided by r11. R11 is featuring the Movable-Weight-Technology that allows the golfer to shift the ball trajectory both sides within 25 yards. Adding a fade or draw becomes easier with this feature. Another feature added to this driver is the Adjustable-Sole-Technology that consists of 3 settings: neutral, open, and close. You can create a +2 degree or -2 degree variation on the driver’s face-angle by setting the driver into open or closed mode.
I have a 28 handicap and was worried that this was too much driver for a player at my level. But, I loved the look and bought it in June anyway. Happy to say it has been a great Summer of driving with it! I love it! I have the 9 degree, adjusted to 9.5, with a R flex shaft. I do think the Adjustable Sole Plate is a do-nothing gimmick though!
If you don't get this club set up properly, it can really hinder your game. I had a long review written about my trials working with Golfsmith to get my R11 squared away, but the bottom line is this. Get it set up correctly and you will love it.
